Week 4 - Part 1, Fredericksburg

And here are my pictures from Fredericksburg! A bit different than you may have expected. We walked around the National Museum of the Pacific, but hardly had the chance to look in much detail (antsy 3-year old took care of that).   My husband's conclusion was while there may be some things that are German (like on the menu), some are definitely not.  But perhaps they were when the Fredericksburg immigrants moved there?  Immigrants do cling to what they know and bring those with them, while their home country evolves.

Anyways, we had fun walking around and relaxing.  My dad didn't get a chance to do too much (G and I took the time to run away and put my cousin in charge of the boys and my dad).  So we had a break.  We had plans to do more sight-seeing on our way back, but we (me and G) were too tired to try.

Tuesday 28th June : Cycle 2.  After checking my blood counts, I was able to get cycle 2 - Yaay!  My appointment was 9:30 am, and I got there are 9:15. Unfortunately they were very busy and by the time I left it was 3:00pm.  I was totally exhausted. I think I needed the next two days to recover.

Wednesday 29 June: Not as much queasiness, but felt tired and out of sorts.  By now my hair is falling out quite a bit.  Had to make my way back to Texas Oncology for a growth hormone shot. Was glad to be back home.

Thursday 30 June : Did not feel well, and definitely this cycle is harder than the last, but again, all things considered, could be much worse.  I had to take a nap in the afternoon and had a general feeling of malaise.  As well as a lack of interest in doing anything.  Hopefully things will improve by the weekend, when we have some more visitors (another cousin and his family). I hope to get some curry goat out of that visit.

Mental Health : not too bad, but definitely 2nd cycle is harder on me than 1st, maybe it is in my head?  All I know is that even though I am not too sick to do some things (like blog), I feel quite lethargic.
Hair fall: 6 out of 10 and accelerating. Quite distressing, but hardly unexpected.

Job Search2: Networking etiquette..

On which I have a few ideas.  As my husband keeps telling me, I won't get a job by spending hours in front of the computer submitting applications to online job postings.  The best use of any job-seeker's time is spent talking to friends and acquaintances and letting them know that you are looking for a job and what your skills and interests are. So here is what I found tricky about networking: How hard to push?  Working parents are busy, so if I asked a friend, who is a working parent, about a position I had seen at their company, do I ask a second time? How soon after? And what if there is another position - do I talk about that too?  If that friend is very enthusiastic about getting more information for me on a post then I hear nothing, what then?  Is it realistic to think they'll get back to me?  I find it difficult to broach the topic again.  I might ask a second time but for me there is no third time. The Lowly Eyebrow Pencil

The eyebrow pencil Just a short post after some very heavy weeks. I recently went into the pharmacy looking for an eyebrow pencil - the kind of thing you would use if you wanted to fill in sparse eyebrows. I do have sparse eyebrows and eyebrow pencil is my friend. The first product I was shown was about $9. I immediately said that was the wrong kind of eyebrow pencil for me. The assistant next suggested that I could use eye shadow to "powder in" my eyebrows. Price $6. I felt I needed to clarify what exactly I needed, some black/dark brown thing I could use to pencil in my eyebrows (like maybe a 6B pencil, but for eyebrows. Would 6B even work?).  She then showed me something else that said "Eyebrow pencil" on the side. It was about 3/4 the length of a pencil and 1/2 the width and the other end of the pencil had a little brush attachment so you could brush your brows after you pencil them in.
