What it takes to shop at The Domain (and other places like it) in 2 words

Be Brave I recently took a little trip to The Domain by myself, just to walk around a bit, the last time I walked around there was more than 5 years ago. I had no particular objective other than to see what it looked like after so many years and to check out the Whole Foods at The Domain. But first I started with Neiman Marcus. If you are like me, "Be brave"  are the two words worth remembering. I had to keep repeating them to myself because: You have to be brave enough enter the stores. I went into one, picked up a cashmere sweater for about $500 then moved on to a pants, $1000 - it looked like regular linen pants to me. You have to be brave enough to ask the price of any item you care to know, even if out of idle curiosity. Be brave enough to walk out of the store without buying anything. Be brave, despite not wearing  fancy clothes or shoes. I went in with my ratty jeans and old t-shirt.  At the end of the day, they probably get a lot of window shoppers, so...

Swimsuit Shopping: My top 5 list

And I don't mean the top 5 things I like about shopping for a swimsuit. Trying to get a bathing suit is a most frustrating shopping experience for most women. It is especially hard for me this year since I don't quite have the same shape that I used to. Here's my top 5 list of swim suit criteria: Does not require extensive grooming procedures prior to wear. Does not stick up anywhere it shouldn't. Not easy to pull down or aside - very necessary when playing and fighting the boys in the pool. That leaves out strapless swimsuits and anything with thin straps. Offers appropriate concealment and camouflage where necessary. Does not look like a child's swimsuit nor a teen's. So now that I review my list, I am wondering why I just don't put "grandmother swimsuit" here, or is that just me?

Shopping with Liam

Usually shopping with Liam consists of following behind him and putting back whatever he picks up, or taking things out of his hands. Sometimes, it is entertaining, as long as I don't plan on getting any shopping done.  Like a recent trip to get towels.   I take a quick look at Liam and there he is trying to figure out how to put on a yellow and black, polka-dot halter-top bikini. Hmmm.. we're not in the main aisle, so noone can really see him. I'll just let him play for a bit, so I can look around. I look back.  Oh my, he's got the neck under one arm and one of the cups on his shoulder.  That's funny! I look at the bottoms that go with the tunic top I've been looking at.  Oh good grief! Pull-on, elastic-waist pants?! I need to get a life! We move on to towels after he gets tired playing around with the bikini top. " You have to come down from there." "Why?" "Well this isn't a playground. These shelves aren't f...
